It looks like Spike Lee's new film 'BlacKkKlansman' hits close to home for one of the lead actors. Adam Driver explained that he grew up with neighbors who were apart of the Ku Klux Klan and frequently witnessed white power rallies in Indiana.

During an interview with USA Today, Driver spoke of his role in the film and how accurately it depicts rural American division. “If anything, I was more aware of it as a kid growing up in Indiana, because there were always Klan rallies, like, every summer,” Driver said. “There were people in the Klan who were in our neighborhood.”

Though it is waning through the years, Indiana has historically been a hotbed for white supremacy. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Indiana still harbors over 30 hate groups in the state, three of which are connected to the Ku Klux Klan.
