Ariana Grande has had a more challenging year than most pop stars, particularly regarding her very publicized journey with the late Mac Miller and ex-fiancé Pete Davidson, coinciding with major career-making music releases and collaborations.

The young star is still coping with trauma from the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, when a suicide bomber used the end of her concert as his opportunity to detonate a bomb, killing 22 people and injuring over 100 others. In the latest episode of her docu-series 'Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman Diaries,' the singer shared a heartbreaking letter about the attack, in which she describes it as something "that seems impossible to fully recover from," NME reports.

The letter she reads is from February 22, 2018, eight months after the attack. She struggles at first to find where to start, but says, "May 22, 2017, will leave me speechless and filled with questions for the rest of my life.”

She beautifully explains what music is to her—escape, comfort, self-expression, happiness, harmless, and something that brings people together in a hugely positive and beneficial way. She emphasizes that music is the safest thing she's ever known, which is what made May 22, 2017 so devastating.

“When something so opposite and so poisonous takes place in your world that is supposed to be everything but that… it is shocking and heartbreaking in a way that seems impossible to fully recover from," Grande laments.

In the wake of the tragedy, the singer experienced post-traumatic stress disorder, but she credits the spirit of her fans and the people of Manchester for her quick return to the stage. "Their love, strength, and unity showed me, my team, my dancers, band, and entire crew not to be defeated,” she says.

That's why, only weeks after the attack, Grande returned to Manchester for a triumphant concert, joined by an all-star line-up including Justin Bieber, Coldplay, and Liam Gallagher.

Leading up to the performance, #ItsNotYourFaultAriana was trending on Twitter, and Grande continues to thank her fans for encouraging her “to continue during the scariest and saddest of times. To not let hate win. But instead, love as loudly as possible, and to appreciate every moment. The people of Manchester were able to change an event that portrayed the worst of humanity into one that portrayed the most beautiful of humanity. Like a handprint on my heart, I think of Manchester constantly and will carry this with me every day for the rest of my life."

In one of the greatest examples of how to proceed in the face of adversity, Grande still radiates positivity and tenderness, plus she's got the whole world buzzing over the upcoming release of her movie-inspired music video for 'Thank U, Next.'
