CELEBRITY Hailey Baldwin
Hailey Bieber, née Baldwin, has been thrust into the spotlight after coupling up with Justin Bieber, a pop star with a vast and complicated fan base. She's been the victim of thousands of internet trolls throwing nasty comments at her from behind a screen, and she's just opened up about the immense toll it all has on her mental health.
In a series of Instagram Stories, the model said that the best part about the social media platform is logging off. "Being off of Instagram is the best thing ever," she wrote. "Whenever I take breaks from it I feel so much better, so much happy [sic] as a person.. the second I come back on I get immediate anxiety, I get sad and I get worked up."

Social media is a notorious hot spot for celebrity meltdowns, and it can be especially difficult when you're still just 22-years-old. "It's hard to focus on your well being and mental health when each time you open Instagram someone is tearing apart your job, or your relationship or essentially any of the things in your life that are positive," Baldwin continued.
She called into question the entire structure of the platform and celebrities' relationship with it, writing, "I just don't believe we're called to live a life where we're so easily caught up in strangers' opinions on something they have NOTHING to do with."
Regarding her relationship and how she is the target of many "Selenators" who dislike her status as Bieber's wife, she added that she "won't let people make me feel like I'm doing something wrong by enjoying my life and being happy."
People then proceeded to attack her in the comments section of her latest Instagram post, with many saying awful things about her appearance, claiming that she is only successful in her career because of her husband, and plainly writing "Selena is better."

In a pre-social media time, fans never had the kinds of direct lines to celebrities that they do now, and it's almost all too easy to get wrapped up in the opinions of strangers. Luckily, Baldwin also had Miley Cyrus to toughen her up from a young age.
On an episode of 'Carpool Karaoke' with Kendall Jenner, Baldwin and Cyrus revealed that they've known each other since they were little, and that Cyrus would gang up with Baldwin's older sister and "be evil to her."
They laughed about the memory and Cyrus said, "I had to. It made you who you are, you know? It made you stronger. Now you can always take like the trolls and s**t. 'Cause I was such a troll."
Baldwin laughed and said, "Miley was the biggest troll to me. She prepared me for this industry!"
Now more than ever, celebrities need to lift each other up instead of putting each other down, and we can all take a page from Baldwin's book and indulge in being offline.
