How much do you usually spend on lunch? Years ago spending $10 on a sandwich would seem preposterous, but lately restaurants have been cashing in on your desk side indulgence. The meal-kit delivery company HelloFresh is rolling out a new delicious feature that will let you have your lunch—and eat it too.
The program is dubbed "Dinner 2 Lunch," and according to a press release, aims to allow users to only “cook once and eat twice.” Rather than simply trying to profit off of the basic idea of leftovers, HelloFresh plans two separate meals with similar bases and then includes extra ingredients so you can spice up your next meal. Depending on your preference, HelloFresh says you can plan your lunch the night before or assemble it at work, claiming the process will be under five minutes.
"Dinner 2 Lunch" creations include a sausage and zucchini pizza that you can turn into a lunchtime pasta salad, HelloFresh's honey Sriracha pork chops can become banh mi sandwiches, and the BBQ chicken and poblano quesadillas transform into a chicken and rice bowl with black bean salsa. For most, this would be a culinary revolution from the standard soggy deli sandwich.
“HelloFresh is very big on not having [food] left over — they’re very sustainable,” Kim Straus, the public relations manager for the company, told Mic.com.
