A wonderful story is currently going viral about a lost baby koala finding warmth and solace in the fur of a kind-hearted golden retriever. 

Proud dog-owner Kerry McKinnon got the shock of her life after discovering the tiny koala joey snuggled up with her five-year-old golden retriever Asha earlier this week. 

The joey is believed to have become separated from its mother during the night and wandered onto the back porch of the McKinnon residence where Asha the golden retriever was sleeping. Lucky for the vulnerable koala Asha kindly welcomed the little one to snuggle up in her fur, effectively saving the koala's life. 

With temperatures in the area plummeting to 5C in the early hours, Kerry said that the helpless koala “never would have made it through the night” if it hadn’t been cuddled up to Asha.

The baby koala was checked by a local vet and is said to be in good health. It is currently with a local koala carer and they plan to release it back into the wild as soon as possible.
