The passing of Rafi Eitan, the man who led the 1960 Mossad operation to capture Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, renewed interest in one of the boldest and most controversial intelligence missions ever mounted. Eichmann, the architect of the Holocaust, was kidnapped in Argentina and spirited back to Israel to stand trial for war crimes. He was hanged in 1962.
