Everything Everything have released a surprise new EP that tackles some serious issues. Titled ‘A Deeper Sea’, the EP was released on February 27. It follows the Manchester band’s UK tour and the 2017 album ‘A Fever Dream’. Lyrically, it sees the band go into heavy topics, touching on health and masculinity.
First track ‘Mariana’ is about male identity and suicide. Lead singer Jonathan Higgs sat down with NME to explain the track. “It’s about male identity and suicide and the current crisis there is, whether you believe it or not, with being male”. Higgs went into more detail about the song’s title and lyrics, noting “a line about drifting down into the dark sea and falling into the barrier and the [Mariana] Trench”.
Everything Everything recently toured the UK, with hit shows in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, and London. The ‘A Deeper Sea’ EP is out now.
