Idris Elba has created a new comedy to showcase racial divide in England. Titled ‘The Long Run’, the show stars Elba as a father tasked with helping his brother settle in England. The comedy is set in east London during the mid-1980s. Elba plays Walter Easmon, his brother Valentine hails from Sierra Leone. The show will also star Madeline Appiah, Sammy Kamara, and Jimmy Akingbola. As Anglophenia reports, the show’s story has twists and turns. “[Valentine] crashes into their lives bringing laughter, music and chaos. He quickly finds work, falls in love and ignites a passion for music”.
Idris Elba has also been confirmed for four more episodes of ‘Luther’. As Radio Times reports, the actor will reprise his role as the lead detective navigating London’s dark streets. Elba is a busy man. He recently proposed to his fiance at the premier of ‘Yardie’. The film is Elba’s directorial debut and is adapted from the Victor Headley novel of the same name.
