Meet the grandma with the best selfies
The 89-year-old Instagram star
While some may say that technology is for the young, Nishimoto is defying stereotypes with her wacky, but professional, photographs. "It's not so much that I like to shock people with my photos. I just love fun, hilarious photos," she told AJ+.
She decided to take up photography at 72 years old when her son began teaching a beginners course. Nishimoto found a passion through the lens, and now her images were recently featured in her own exhibition. The gallery titled “Asobokane" (meaning "let's play") was featured at Tokyo's Epson imaging gallery.
"You can take photos no matter how old you get," Nishimoto said. "Whether you're in your house, outside, or in your bed, you can still take photos. That's the nice thing about cameras."
Her unique, comedic style consists of elaborate self-portraits. The "Instagram Grandma" is making the internet her own, and her followers can't get enough.
