CELEBRITY R. Kelly

The 'Ignition (Remix)' singer, R. Kelly, has been a known abuser for many years. However, you wouldn't be able to tell from his career in the music industry.

Jerhonda Pace, who filed a lawsuit against the performer, had a recent interview with Buzzfeed News, where she questioned where the societal repercussions are for his sexual misconduct.

She told reporters that she was "livid" when Weinstein's accusers "received so much attention," while Kelly is "still a free man, yet he has abused so many black women, and they are being ignored," Pace said.

R. Kelly has sold 60 million albums during his 25-year career, and continues to perform as an artist for Sony's music label. In addition to Pace's allegations, the R&B artist has had a child pornography scandal, been accused of continuing to run an abusive cult, and holding young women captive against their will.

Pace wonders why her abuser continues to profit in this #MeToo climate. "It was just crazy, and I was like, ‘What about R. Kelly’s victims? What about us?’ Nothing happened for us,” Pace said, continuing later by saying, "I didn’t feel that [any of the investigators] were passionate about it and that they were going to pursue it the way that it needed to be pursued."

While many women who are coming forward with sexual misconduct allegations are finally getting the attention they deserve, it is important to remember the many women who have been silenced throughout the years.
