Radio 2 presenter Lynn Bowles has announced she will leave the station after Easter. The travel presenter made the announcement live on air. She has been with the station for 18 years, opening her show at 4 am. Bowles announced her departure during a discussion with Ken Bruce. “I have a small announcement to make”, Bowles said, “I’m afraid I’m going to be leaving Radio 2”, BBC News reports. She will leave the station on March 29.

Lynn Bowles has led a career giving travel updates and traffic news for presenters such as Chris Evans and Sir Terry Wogan. It isn’t a complete departure from radio though. Bowles will continue to present her Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio Wales. “After 18 long years of my alarm clock waking me at 4 am, it's time to destroy it with some heavy machinery”, she explained. Speaking with BBC News, Radio 2 boss Lewis Carnie called Bowles “a much-loved part of the Radio 2 family”, saying she gave “an invaluable service to millions of listeners”. Bowles used Twitter to send “gratitude to the BBC and all those with whom I have worked”>
