Famed activist and feminist Gloria Steinem is teaming up with esteemed writer Anthony Haden-Guest to curate a New York-based photography exhibit. Titled 'Rise,' the exhibit will debut the work of Layla Love, who has been documenting the atrocities of sex trafficking.
While on assignment, Love has been detained, blindfolded, beaten, and robbed trying to bring awareness to the sex trade internationally, according to Page Six. In addition to her photography, the artist and activist will write a commentary for the exhibit.
Gloria Steinem and Anthony Haden-Guest are a bit of an unlikely duo to be coming together for the cause. Page Six mentions that Haden-Guest grew to prominence throughout the late '80s for his party habits as well as his prose. While Steinem has been a fierce longtime crusader for women's rights, she, similar to Guest, is also known for her pointed written journalism.
'Rise' opens on Thursday, May 17 at the Gallery Henoch in Chelsea, New York City.
