Peter Egan is leading a boycott of Glastonbury Festival in response to comments about badgers. The actor is best known for playing the Marquess of Flintshire in ‘Downton Abbey’. He’s responding to comments made by Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis, who said Brian May is “not invited” to the festival because of his stance on badger culling. May has long been an advocate against badger culling. He even debated the issue on Channel 4 News. An Instagram photo of a Daily Mail interview with Eavis caught Egan’s eye. In the post, Eavis is quoted as saying he supports badger culling, “in certain circumstances”.
Eavis went on to call May “a danger to farming”, claiming “he doesn’t care about the badgers - he doesn’t know anything about it at all”. Egan didn’t take kindly to Eavis’s words, announcing a Glastonbury boycott on Twitter. “Compassionate fans of all music should read this and boycott Glastonbury”, Egan tweeted. “Perhaps Eavis should make clear that only those with limited compassion should attend the muddy festival”.
