There is no doubt that singer-songwriter Adam Lambert has come a long way since his days on 'American Idol.' However the current vocalist for the iconic rock band, Queen, says that his personal evolution began far before he was in the spotlight. At an event for LGBTQ youth in London, the pop star discussed his coming out process and how that pushed him to be where he is today, according to reports from NME.

"I knew around adolescence that I was a little different than these other kids. I knew around seventh grade –age 14 – even though I wasn’t hundred percent sure," Lambert said.

He continued to explain that after he came out, "It felt like I had finally been able to let go of something; that was a relief. My little brother said: ‘Oh finally, I feel like I can really talk to you now. It felt like you weren’t being totally yourself, you weren’t being totally honest with who you were. Now I feel like your not hiding anything.’ It definitely improved my relationships," Lambert said.

Throughout his career, Lambert has been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ community. From being a part of the It Gets Better Project to breaking social norms through music and performance, Lambert has helped pave the path towards inclusivity.
