Runs in the family - Showbiz talent runs in the family. Whitehall’s mother, Hilary Amanda Jane Whitehall, is an actress. His dad, Michael John Whitehall, was a talent agent and TV producer.

Hosting duties - In 2008, Whitehall hosted episodes of ‘Big Brother's Big Mouth’ on E4. He also guested on Channel 4 panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, hosted by Jimmy Carr.

Always on TV - Whitehall couldn’t stay off TV in 2009. He appeared on ‘The Sunday Night Project’, ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, ‘TNT Show’, You Have Been Watching’, ‘Would I Lie to You?’, ‘Mock the Week’, and ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’.

Best Newcomer - Later that year, Whitehall returned to the stage for his solo stand-up show ‘Nearly Rebellious’. The comic was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.

Joke thief? - But Whitehall soon found himself in hot water. The comedian was accused of stealing one of Stewart Lee’s jokes for his ‘Nearly Rebellious’ show. Metro reported that Whitehall repeated the joke “almost verbatim”.

Tearing up TV - Whitehall won audiences over in 2010, appearing on loads of TV shows. He showed up to ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Argumental’, ‘A League of Their Own’ and ‘Ask Rhod Gilbert’, among others.

Caught out - Whitehall soon found himself in hot water yet again. He was allegedly caught with Class A drugs, which caused a media storm. He appeared on ‘Stand Up for the Week’ the same week, with co-star Patrick Kielty joking about the incident.

Meeting royalty - Despite this controversy, Whitehall still performed at the the Royal Variety Performance 2010.

Record-breaker - .Jack took his career to new heights in 2011. He set a new Guinness World Records title: "Highest stand up comedy gig in the world". He did this with the help of comedians Dara Ó Briain and Jon Richardson.

Like father like son - The same year, he did four ‘Backchat’ shows with his father, which were all sold out.

'Fresh Meat' - In 2011, Whitehall returned to acting, appearing in Channel 4’s ‘Fresh Meat’. Jack played J.P., a public school boy who could never get into a “proper” university.

And don't you come back no more... - The next year, Whitehall starred in ‘Hit the Road Jack’, which followed the comedian performing shows across the nation.

'Bad Education' - In August 2012, Jack became the star of his own show, ‘Bad Education’. He created, wrote and starred in this series that follows an inexperienced teacher and his chaotic classroom.

'Have I Got News for You' -

The same year, Whitehall took on hosting duties for ‘Have I Got News for You’. He was joined by guests Richard Bacon and Janet Street-Porter.

Making the wrong enemies - Jack almost went the whole year without getting in trouble. That changed in December 2012, when he cracked a controversial joke about Queen Elizabeth II. After a spot of bad press, Whitehall was dropped from the presenting the National Television Awards.

Cut from 'Frozen'? - Jack almost scored his biggest role in 2013. He was set to appear in Disney’s ‘Frozen’, but he claims that his lines were removed from the film, as reported by Metro.

You cannot be serious! - In 2013, Whitehall took on John McEnroe in a game of tennis for comedy show ‘A League of Their Own’. The game took place at the Royal Albert Hall.

Comedy circuit - Whitehall kept the new hobbies coming with an appearance on ‘Top Gear’. He had apparently only driven once before, and was the star in a reasonably priced car.

In May 2014, Jack Whitehall One Direction and others in a charity football game against Piers Morgan and his team. Harry Styles scored the only goal for his team.

'Bad Education: The Movie' - In 2015, Whitehall took ‘Bad Education’ to the big screen for a feature-length film. Mathew Horne, Sarah Solemani, and Harry Enfield starred in the comedy.
