Star of the hit medical drama show 'ER' Vanessa Marquez was shot and killed by police in her Los Angeles home, according to reports from Hollywood Life.
Authorities were called to the South Pasadena residence for a welfare check when they got a call about a woman suffering from seizures. Upon arrival, Marquez allegedly threatened officers with a BB Gun that looked like a realistic semi-automatic weapon. Police open fired and Marquez was fatally shot.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department explained the incident saying, “At the time [of the shooting] there was an LA County mental health clinician here with the officers,” Lt. Joe Mendoza said. “They began to communicate with her, she became very uncooperative and during that contact she armed herself with a handgun, she pointed it at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”
Mendoza described Marquez's medical condition at the time of the shooting, saying she was “undergoing some medical problems, some seizures, it appeared that the female was gravely disabled. …I don’t have any more specific details due to the fact that officers have not been interviewed as of this time.”
Marquez was most known for her role as Wendy Goldman on 'ER.'
