Celebrities are sometimes reduced to their appearances, categorized as individuals who take on lines and lyrics that other people have written for them. But don't be fooled, there are tons of celebrities who have tried their hand at writing—and not just penning the age-old, scandalous, spill-all memoir either.
Dolly Parton teamed up with prolific best-selling writer James Patterson for their new mystery thriller, 'Run, Rose, Run' out March 7. The novel tells the tale of Rose, a young country singer/songwriter from Nashville who realizes that fame and fortune can be as heartbreaking as the secret she's carrying.
If the main character sounds a little familiar, Parton has teased that it will indeed be slightly autobiographical in that it will take a cautionary look into "the dark side" of the music industry. Speaking to 'CBS Sunday Morning,' reporter Lee Cowan asked her if she had experienced a lot of what was in the book. “Oh, yeah,” the country legend replied. “You see all that. All the managers that–people that will rip you off, they try to steal your songs, they’ll con you, they’ll do whatever. I have seen it all.”
Parton also hinted that she would be interesting in playing the lead role in a potential film adaptation of the book, which Patterson had first pitched to her back in 2019. She is also releasing a new album of original songs inspired by the novel.
