First Lady Melania Trump's private plane was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering from a mechanical issue. According to reports from CNN, the plane's main cabin filled with smoke just 10 minutes after departing.

Her plane was heading for Philadelphia but had to quickly return to Joint Base Andrews, the US military facility located in Prince George's County, Maryland.

Reporters who were aboard the aircraft with Melania Trump stated that a "thin haze" of potent smelling smoke quickly filled the plane, and that everyone on board was given towels to cover their faces.

The First Lady was able to evacuate the airplane safely and still plans to head to Philadelphia later today. The reason for the plane's malfunction has yet to be disclosed.
