While Kanye West continues to divide the public with his controversial and contradictory tweets, Kim Kardashian West has become a hero for inmates in America, bringing people together to call for justice in the way of prison reform.

According to TMZ, inmates around the country have been flooding her inbox with thousands of letters every day, asking her and her legal team to help them find freedom. They're not wrong to invest that kind of power in the celebrity, as Kim, arguably the most famous Kardashian, has shown exactly what her power can do over the past year.

For example, just one week after meeting with President Trump at the White House to discuss prison reform and to petition for Alice Marie Johnson's pardoning, the inmate of 21 years—who had been given a life sentence with no chance of parole on her first, and non-violent, offense—was granted clemency.

More recently, Kim and her team (along with a roster of other celebrities) helped Cyntoia Brown, a victim of child sex trafficking, get clemency in Tennessee after spending 15 years in prison for killing a man who had exploited her.

She didn't just work on individual cases, either. After learning about the stories of men and women in prison, Kim returned to the White House in September 2018 to discuss prison reform legislation, eventually becoming instrumental in getting the elusive legislation passed.

"It started with Ms. Alice, but looking at her and seeing the faces and learning the stories of the men and women I’ve met inside prisons I knew I couldn’t stop at just one," she tweeted. "It’s time for REAL systemic change."

That's why Kim's new nickname within the prison system, reportedly used by both inmates and staff members, is "The Princess of Prison Reform."

Giving voiceless people one of the loudest voices in the world is, indeed, a royal gesture. Perhaps we were all looking at the wrong West when Kanye spoke of running for president in 2020. Behind every great man there's a great woman, but maybe it's time we just skip the middleman and let Kim K take the reigns.
