At the top of the runway of the Fall/Winter 2018 RTW show, a huge banner reading “Women’s Rights Are Human Rights” was displayed.
The blogger posted a photo of the show with the caption, "I honestly wish they’d follow Gucci’s lead of donating money to. cause they believe in. It’s one thing to use fashion as a platform to express a message and for that she already did twice i believe. Now it’s just profiteering from being “woke” which tbh... sour taste in the mouth."

Bryan Boy is referring to Gucci's pledge to donate $500,000 to March For Our Lives that supports the survivors of the Parkland school shooting.
As political fashion is surfacing at fashion weeks all over the world, critics wonder if it is just for the sake of popularity. Journalist Hazel Cills also similarly took to Twitter saying, "I'm so tired of reading about 'political fashion,' which should be identified not on a runway but in the wages and working conditions of brands."

As commentators continue to call out brands for empty political and social involvement, perhaps more designers will support causes in and out of the spotlight.
