FASHION comme des garcons

Fashion designer Rei Kawakubo has revolutionised fashion for nearly 30 years. With her label Comme des Garçons, the Japanese designer has broken boundaries and set up show around the world. The label’s latest show at Paris Fashion Week was another towering achievement. The show had an element of performance, with camp and kitsch themes and designs.

The show had a draping red velvet curtain, with levitating lights that illuminated the models. The models themselves looked down on the audience, wearing platform Nike shoes and glittery wigs. Items from the collection included a variety of different fabrics stitched together. There were leopard prints blended with pastels, as well as polka-dots and sequin shells. Models wore patchwork prints on top of black party dresses and tattered Betty Boop sweaters.
