Environmentally friendly fashions have evolved as of late, from hemp sandals to chic outfits. The indie retail brand, Girlfriend Collective, is debuting a line of sustainable T-shirts—made entirely from material waste. Because when it comes to well-tailored basics, one man's trash is another girlfriend's treasure.
Titled the Cupro Collection, the company estimates that each T-shirt will save 682 gallons of water. In addition, 10% of the sales will go to the nonprofit organization, Charity Water.
According to the website, “By focusing on humane manufacturing, meticulous design, and sustainable materials, we want to create a community of people who care about every step of the process.” Girlfriend Collective explains the process for turning garbage into high-end garb by writing, “Cupro is made from cotton linter, a fiber that sticks to cotton seeds and is usually downcycled or thrown into landfills, but now is being used to make luxe-feeling, sustainable clothes.”
The T-shirts come in a range of minimalist colors that will be the perfect everyday addition to any wardrobe. They are described as, "Breathable, hypoallergenic, and perfectly drapey."
