The Sophie Hulme studio is launching a new range of eco-friendly products. The British bag brand will launch ‘The Project’ this spring. For its first phase, the brand will focus on pre-consumer waste. Drawing from their leather library, Sophie Hulme will craft bags from surplus skins and dormant leathers. The result is a vibrant collection that uses only a fraction of the effort needed to use raw materials.
Hulme elaborated on the collection with Vogue. “We have bags of leather scraps in different colours and I am always in the studio rearranging them, creating mini designs and patterns”, Hulme said. “We looked at what we had in our leather library, and exploring how we could work with our archive”, the founder added.
The collection features eight products, such as The Albion, The Milner, and The Albany. ‘The Project’ will be launched at Sophie Hulme’s outlet at Burlington Arcade Boutique.
