Alexa Chung has boosted her mega-celebrity status in Japan by launching her new collection, Virginia. The line was debuted during Chung’s “travelling circus of presentations” in Tokyo, Vogue reports. Over 20 models strutted their stuff on a hand-painted set. The line was initially titled Work of Art and was inspired by artists like Georgia O’Keeffe. Chung reconsidered the direction after Dior launched its own O’Keeffe-inspired line earlier this year.

Instead, Virginia honours Virginia Woolf and her contemporaries like Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell. Pieces include silk pyjamas and paisley robes. There are also hand-knitted jumpers and embellished dresses.

Chung told Vogue that she chose to show the line in Japan because “The collection felt quintessentially English, so I wanted to put it into a very surreal context”. You can head over to Vogue to take a look at the new collection.
