FOOD Pregnancy

For many expecting mothers, it is the final weeks of pregnancy that are the hardest. The excitement, the nerves, the swollen everything, is all a part of the beautiful process that is childbirth. Some women, however, say that a specific salad from Caioti Pizza Café in Studio City, CA, was the magic trick to inducing the highly anticipated labor.

Not sure whether it is the crisp romaine lettuce, watercress, walnuts, or the Gorgonzola, but this leafy salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette is full of pregnancy folklore. There even is an extensive scrapbook full of notes from pregnant women who explained how they ate the salad and went into labor.

"We have anywhere from 5 to 20 pregnant ladies a day come in and order the salad. We have lots of tired looking men come in and get it to-go," owner of the restaurant, Cindy LaDou, told Bring Me.

Caioti Pizza Café serves the pregnancy salad for both lunch and dinner. Though the salad is said to induce contractions, it is safe and tasty to eat for men and non-pregnant women alike.
