FOOD Junk food

When you plan a trip abroad, is it the architecture, the views, or the cultural traditions that you seek to explore? While all of those are very important, it's really the international cuisine that calls to the stomachs of international travelers. Initially reported by The Daily Meal, check out this list of unique junk foods from around the world to add to your culinary bucket list:

1. When Peruvians want a junk food treat they get Doña Pepa, which is basically their version of Oreos. They are chocolate-covered cookies covered in rainbow sprinkles.

2. Takis are the most popular snack in Mexico. They are tiny corn taquitos that come in a range of flavors such as fuego hot chili pepper and lime, guacamole, salsa brava, crunchy fajita, and Nitro.

3. Erdnussflips are peanut-butter-flavored corn puffs. They are very popular in Germany and the Czech Republic.

4. Scotland is known for deep frying just about everything. Some of their most outrageous fried confections are deep-fried Mars bars and deep-fried butter balls.

5. Mochi is a very popular junk food in Taiwan. These chewy, ball-shaped snacks are made from rice flour and filled with peanut powder, sesame, or adzuki bean paste.

6. Though not technically international, this food is not well-known in the US. Spam Musubi is very popular in Hawaii. This is grilled spam with rice wrapped together with seaweed. This is sold at convenience stores across the islands.
