A pop-up restaurant has launched on Mount Everest, for those whose hunger is only matched by bravery. A team of chefs hopes to set the record for the tallest pop-up restaurant in the world. The restaurant is located at Everest Base Camp, 11,600 ft above sea level, as reported by Travel and Leisure. The project is named Triyagyoni. Beginning in Lukla, Nepal, four chefs and ten diners will go on an eight-day trek up Mount Everest. During the hike, the group will forage for ingredients that will be turned into the final seven-course meal. The meal will also feature (non-foraged) wines.

“The biggest challenge of course will be the altitude, which will affect everything”, says Sanjay Thakur. He’s a top Indian chef and one quarter of the culinary team. “Flavour [perception] will be decreased, so we will be designing a menu of extraordinary dishes accordingly, where spices will have the upper hand”, Thakur explained, via Travel and Leisure. Tickets cost around $5,600, which includes flights, meals, and accommodation.
