Nation favours rectangular cheese sandwiches
YouGov confirmed that Britain prefers sandwiches full of dairy and in an angular form

In celebration of British Sandwich Week, YouGov polled the nation on what shape a sandwich should be. The results show that 60% of British people prefer their lunch in a rectangle, and 28% in a triangle.

The rest of the respondents seemed a bit confused, with 5% saying they prefer a sandwich in some other shape, 2% don’t know, and 5% never make sandwiches for themselves.
The poll showed that women are more likely to favour triangular sandwiches, with 35% saying they prefer that shape to 21% of men.
The nation's favourite sandwich was confirmed as cheese, with 36% of respondents saying the dairy product is their filling of choice. Slightly weirdly, mayonnaise came in second at 20%. The remaining favourite sandwich fillings are ham, at 16%, tomato, at 15%, and egg, tuna, and chicken in joint fifth place at 11% each.
