FOOD Cereal

It's no secret that the cereal aisle in American grocery stores basically has roughly the sugar content of a bakery. But as Oreo Cookies turn into Golden Oreo O's is the dessert for breakfast trend crossing over into the obvious?

The creators of Honey Bunches of Oats, Grape-Nuts, and Honey Comb cereals are now launching two new breakfast treats: Golden Oreo O's and Nilla Banana Pudding. These boxed cereals will resemble the all-vanilla Oreo cookies and Nilla Wafers. This comes just after Post Consumer Brands similarly launched Chips Ahoy cereal, standard Oreo O's, and Nutter Butter cereal.

The American Heart Association recommends eating less than 36 g of sugar per day for men, and 25 g for women. However, the high sugar content in cereal makes it scarily easy for people to meet, if not exceed, this limit—just with their breakfasts.

While many people like to indulge in cookies every so often, could cookies for breakfast be too sweet of a treat?
