Though they go by a different name, and pair with yoga pants instead of ball gowns, waist trainers are the same as corsets.
While nearly every woman has felt the pressure to maintain a thin waist, or have an hour-glass figure, it is not worth risking your health.

Users are meant to wear waist trainers for a few hours a day to cinch together your midsection, hips, and back. Eventually, your body gets used to the restriction and stays "trained."

This old-fashioned device is archaic for a reason. Short-term, when you wear a waist trainer, it makes it more difficult for you to breathe. Women have passed out from the lack of oxygen when wearing them. Some of the long-term dangers include crushed organs, compressed lungs, and fractured ribs, according to Teen Vogue.

While it may look glamorous when you see celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian and Amber Rose waist training, it's important to research risks and workout in a healthy way.
