HEALTH Gross objects

Public restrooms are often a germaphobe’s worst nightmare, but it turns out they’re not nearly as bad as many seemingly innocent objects inside your own home. The following objects often contain more bacteria than the average public restroom.

Mobile phone
We generally don’t go anywhere without our phones, but how often do we clean them? For most people, the answer lies between ‘never’ and ‘almost never’. Try using antibacterial wipes often or face the fact that your device is probably dirtier than a public bathroom.

Sponge
Are you ‘cleaning’ your dishes with a dirty sponge? Unless you regularly change sponges, your sponge may very well be 200,000 times as dirty as your bathroom. Yuck!

Keyboard
While it may be confined to a single space, you do touch it regularly and many of us even eat in front of keyboards, making spillage nearly unavoidable. It’s no surprise that keyboards are often five times more dirty than your toilet seat.

Toothbrush
The average toothbrush contains an absurd amount of bacterias, including those originating from feces. Replace your brush every three months and never store it near a toilet!
