A new feature has crept up on the photo-sharing app
Instagram is the addictive app that turns your life into a glossy photo gallery. Since crash-landing into our phones in late 2010, the app has become one of the most used. Recent updates Instagram stories, Instagram live, and even Instagram messages, have all helped the app overtake competition from Snapchat and Twitter. Late last year, Emarketer reported that almost 17 million people in the UK will use the platform throughout 2018.
But now, you may second guess using the app so frequently. As of 19 January, a new update has made your activity public. The newly introduced “activity status” tells your followers when you last opened the app, and when you’re currently active. What does this mean? Well if you’re ignoring friends and family, don’t go to Instagram. They’ll be able to see if you’re on your phone!
Thankfully, this update can be sidestepped. Just head to the app’s settings to disable the feature.
