Jillian Mayer is a visual artist and filmmaker whose latest project has the art world buzzing. As an artist whose work explores the relationship between technology and our identities, lives, and experiences, Mayer presses on the tension between physical and digital existence like she's trying to get a knot out of a muscle—enter Slumpies.

Her project consists of colourful, organically-shaped sculptures designed in such a way to relieve people's bodies as they use their portable devices and smartphones. Mayer writes on her project's website, "The human body slumped over their phone in public needs to be addressed at this critical moment in time," and shows concern for the lack of physical structures being made to support the body as it averages 4.7 hours crouched over a device daily.

Mayer controversially believes that people's technologically inclined habits should be encouraged, and that it's a positive thing to "[relieve] the human form of the duty of supporting its own neck while acknowledging our ever-increasing relationship with mankind's best invention."

The website details each of the sculptures and their specific function for the body, with models including 'Day Bed,' 'Lounger,' 'Knee Hole,' and 'Wall Piece.'

Want one? You can order a Slumpie specific to your height, dimensions, and even phone model from the project's website.
