A man was asked to leave a Tesco Express for breaking their store policy by wearing a flat cap. Graham Cattermole, a 64-year-old from Dudley was reportedly told to remove his hat by store security. Apparently, it violated Tesco’s “no hoodies or crash helmets policy”. According to the Dudley News, the great-grandfather had just walked through the door with his wife, Christine. The pair left without their weekly shopping.

Cattermole complained to Tesco, which apologised “for the inconvenience caused”. Talking to the BBC, he said “"It is just a ridiculous situation and my family and friends have said how stupid it is”. The grandfather went on to say “I've been going into the same store wearing different hats for many years and never had a problem, until now”. The man got a little feisty with the security guard, telling him “where to stick it”. BBC reports that the security guard was a new hire, and he has now been re-trained.
