Just when you thought we'd reached peak millennial, Tesco has released a new range of easy peel avocados. The superfood has been modified so that its skin comes off easily once it has been cut in two. 'EasyAvo' will be available in Tesco stores from September 13.

Why has Tesco decided to start stocking this particular variety of avocado? Well, apparently avocado-related injuries have been on the rise, with an increasing number of people arriving in hospital with the dreaded 'avocado hand'.

The Times reported last year that a number of amateur chefs were being hospitalised, after cutting or stabbing their hands while attempting to chop up the popular fruit. The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons have apparently even called for safety labels in order to inform buyers of the dangers of peeling avocados, as some injuries even involved serious nerve and tendon damage.

No doubt the new avocados will be flying off the shelves.
