It's 7:00 pm on a Friday night and you are looking for a restaurant. While there is plenty of space at the large and loud eateries around town you are looking for a quiet place to dine and actually talk to your date. Enter, SoundPrint, an up-and-coming app that rates establishments by the atmosphere.
Dubbed the "Yelp for noise," SoundPrint is taking over the online food scene by storm, and connecting consumers to the best restaurant for their night. The app already spans 2,000 cities and has accumulated over 40,000 reviews. SoundPrint even goes as far as to rate different locations based on background music, acoustic architecture design, and spacial elements.
#NYC's restaurants and bars loud? You betcha. Here's a story about our recent study on the issue. Thx, @acousticbltn. #noise #hearingloss #findyourquietlace. https://t.co/tRu5P7lyvB pic.twitter.com/ZalBBrWAmd

SoundPrint creator, Greg Scott, told Mic.com that the motivation behind the platform came from his own frustrations with restaurants and hearing deficiencies. “Dating in New York City can be tough on its own,” Scott said. “But because I have hearing loss, trying to find a quiet venue is very important to me. That way you can hear somebody; you can connect with them — you’re not spending your time guessing what they’re saying.”
SoundPrint was originally marketed just for individuals with hearing impairments, however, it has quickly evolved into a helpful guide for any restaurant goer interested in finding a special spot.
