Bumble will now let you filter matches by star sign
You never have to match with a Gemini again
LIFESTYLE dating apps
The Bumble dating app first had everyone buzzing about their novel feature that only allows female users to make the first contact with matched male users (there is no order in same-sex matches). Now, they've just added another feature that allows the astrologically inclined to filter through which star signs they're paired with.
A friend just informed me you can now finally filter boys on Bumble by star sign and honestly it’s made my year pic.twitter.com/TOZowsV3kv— Francine Jordan (@FrancineJordanH) January 8, 2019
In the wake of the news, Twitter users have praised the filter, with some saying that they will be re-downloading the app because of it, and some even deciding to switch over from Tinder. It turns out people are just really tired of getting matched with Scorpios.
Made the switch from tinder to bumble because it shows you their zodiac sign before swiping— Ally Croll (@ally_croll) October 17, 2018
Others are mad that it took the company so long, forcing them to unknowingly engage with so many Aries.
Um I think it’s rude that bumble didn’t have zodiac signs in bios when I was using dating apps. I could’ve avoided so many Aries men ????— shea baby (@sheapacaud) December 6, 2018
The idea, however, has long been brewing in the Twittersphere, where users in the past couple years have suggested the filter so that they can find more Taurus men.
I need a tinder/bumble for zodiac signs. Like, show me Taurus men near me.— Maddie Dyckes (@okmaddiedyckes) April 19, 2018
A theory: Bumble but based on the zodiac signs you want to match with— Bree (@brizib00) November 27, 2017
The new feature is a little ironic, though, as Bumble themselves tweeted in September 2018, "F**k your zodiac sign, let us see your throwback playlist." They were likely responding to the mass hype about star signs in dating, which they've now completely submitted to.
The filter only works with people who have chosen to publicly list their signs, which is a good thing for both the astrologically inclined and opposed, as you can avoid the whole zodiac realm or dive in head first with like-minded people.
Along with zodiac signs, you can also select filters for height, education level, political leaning, what you’re looking for in a relationship, religion, and smoking, drinking, and exercise habits.
Of course, filtering out Leos doesn't guarantee that you'll like everyone you meet, and if you decline to meet any Cancers then you might be doing yourself a disservice, but if you feel like you've had enough with fire signs and you're looking for something more like an Aquarius or Virgo, Bumble is now your celestial playground.
