Jennifer Lawrence has served up some criticism of ‘Phantom Thread’ in a new interview. The Oscar-winning actress sat down on Marc Maron’s ‘WTF’ podcast to review the film. “I got through about three minutes. I put in a good solid three… I’m sorry to anybody who loved that movie” Lawrence said.
The actress went into more detail as to why the film wasn’t too appealing. She criticised the main character, Reynolds Woodcock, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, calling him “a narcissistic sociopath”. Lawrence went on to explain that similarities between the film and her life were too much to handle. “I’ve been down that road, I know what that’s like, I don’t need to watch that movie” Lawrence said on the podcast”.
‘Phantom Thread’ is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and stars Daniel Day-Lewis. The film is nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actor. You can listen to Jennifer Lawrence on the ‘WTF’ podcast here.
