>didir="ltr">‘Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist’ is a new documentary that looks at the life of Vivienne Westwood. Its subject denounced the film earlier this year. Dazed quotes a spokesperson as saying “the film is mediocre, and Vivienne and Andreas are not”. The cause for concern stems from the film’s choice to ignore Westwood’s activism, instead focusing on archival fashion footage.
Westwood son, Ben, has now released his own statement to Dazed. He criticized the film and its director Lorna Tucker, arguing that “she chose to miss the real story”. He went on to say “let alone illustrating Vivienne’s world view or her environmental work, the film does not even show her fashion properly”. Ben claims that the footage concerning his mother’s activism “is on the cutting room floor”.
To make up for her wrongs, Ben thinks Lorna Tucker should pull the footage and make donations to one of Vivienne's charities.
