MOVIES Duos

Cinema has seen some iconic duos throughout history. Specifically, there have been many actor-director duos that have won the world over with their incredible work. From Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, Hollywood has always benefited from a good actor-director duo. Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese may be one of the best out there.

Their long working relationship has produced hits like 'The Aviator' (2004) and 'The Wolf of Wall Street' (2013), and now, they're collaborating on a new film called 'Killers of the Flower Moon.' It's based on the hit book of the same name by David Grann, which follows a series of real-life murders that occurred during the 1920s in Osage County, Oklahoma. The first official trailer premiered on July 5 and it looks to be a wild ride. Di Caprio plays Ernest Burkhart, a local man who marries a native woman named Mollie during a time when oil is discovered on native Osage land, leading to a turf war and multiple deaths.

This film marks the seventh project Scorsese and DiCaprio have worked on together. “He goes to these weird places that are so difficult and convoluted, and through the convolution, somehow there’s a clarity that we reach. And usually it’s in the expression, in his face, in his eyes. I’ve always told him this. He’s a natural film actor," Scorsese said of DiCaprio in a May interview. The film will be released in October 2023, and also stars Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and John Lithgow.
