Dappy, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, was caught with drugs after his tour bus was raided. The British hip-hop artist was in Glasgow to perform at the city’s Classic Grand venue on February 25. After police received a tip, Dappy’s tour bus was raided before he got a chance to perform. The bus was searched and police found marijuana. One of Dappy’s entourage received a caution.
An official statement obtained by NME said “police responded to a report of an illegal substance onboard a bus in Jamaica Street in Glasgow”. The statement went on to say “officers attended and a quantity of herbal cannabis was recovered and a 33-year-old man was given a recorded police warning”.
A spokesperson for Dappy downplayed the drug raid. In a statement picked up by NME, they said “We were stopped for a routine check. Nothing actually happened and we got let back on the bus”. Dappy will not receive charges for possession of drugs.
