R&B icon D’Angelo has called off a rare concert in the UK to work on his new album. The singer was due to perform at the Eventim Apollo in London on March 6. D’Angelo’s management released a statement to confirm the cancellation. The statement, obtained by NME, explained that “D’Angelo has been working in the studio, deep in the recording process” and that “he apologises to any fans that this announcement might impact”. The concert has been rescheduled to June 21. Tickets are sold out, and will still be valid on June 21.

The last time D’Angelo did a UK show was in 2015. The singer performed at the Roundhouse in London. The concert followed the release of his Grammy Award-winning album ‘Black Messiah’ in 2014. News of a new D’Angelo record is more than welcome, considering ‘Black Messiah’ took 14 years to create and release. The singer confirmed that a new album was on the way in an interview with Rolling Stone. D’Angelo described it as a “companion piece” to ‘Black Messiah’.
