MNEK has made a point of responding to a YouTube troll. A hateful comment anonymously appeared underneath the music video for MNEK’s song ‘Tongue’. Reading “this is so so wrong. Look in this guy’s eyes. You can clearly see a demon is in control”, the comment continued to say MNEK “is doing this gay thing so it can poison young minds”.
The R&B singer and producer posted the hurtful comment to his Instagram. “First of all, I’d like to say a continued thank you to everyone who’s been supporting ‘Tongue’, still - it means the world”, MNEK wrote, before addressing the hate. “I’ve been working in this industry for a long time and have earned the right to now perform in a way that exhibits the true me”, he wrote. The singer went on to say “loving another man is not a demonic act, especially not in a music video!”. MNEK wrapped things up by saying “If videos like mine can help a young kid come to terms with their truth, I’m doing more good in the world than a keyboard warrior”.
