Ed Sheeran has allegedly spoken out about legal action against him. The singer is at the centre of a controversial legal battle concerning a song he wrote for an iconic country music couple. Sheeran penned ‘The Rest of Our Life’ for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Beau Golden and Bon Iver member Sean Carey allege that Sheeran took melodies from their song, ‘When I Found You’, which they wrote for singer Jasmine Rae.
As BBC News reports, Sheeran filed legal reports that deny the copyright claims. He claims ‘The Rest of Our Life’ is an “originally and independently created musical composition”. Sheeran has also requested that the judge dismiss the case, BBC News reports.
It’s not the first legal battle for Ed Sheeran. In 2017, the singer settled a £14 million copyright claim over his track ‘Photograph’. Thomas Leonard and Martin Harrington claimed that Sheeran borrowed elements from their song, ‘Amazing’.
