He’s called ‘F1 Supremo’ by journalists, and has come a long way from being a motorsport spectator. Ecclestone is also known for being mugged of his Rolex watch. The next day, he sent a mugshot to Rolex and created an advert featuring the incident.

Clive Calder ($4.5 billion) - This South African-born record executive got his big break founding the music group Zomba Group and its subsidiary Jive Records. Both Zomba and Jive have been discontinued, but Calder keeps his billions in his Cayman Island resort.

Charles Dunstone ($1.5 billion) - Former chair and founder of Carphone Warehouse, Dunstone is also the executive chairman of the TalkTalk Group.
