'Star Wars': out-of-this-world film locations you can actually visit! - With the release of 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' nearly upon us, we decided to gather some of the truly epic locations where other productions of the famous saga were filmed. Several places and planets in the film series were created with the use of computers and special effects, but the series also used several truly amazing locations from around the world that you may or may not have recognized when you saw them in the movies! Royal Palace of Caserta, Italy - Built in the 18th century, this is the largest royal palace in Italy. The interior of this stunning dwelling was used for some scenes of Theed Royal Palace in episodes one and two.

Death Valley, California - Some scenes from 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope' were shot in Death Valley because the production team no longer had the budget to return to Tunisia. Some of the desert scenes you see in the movie alternate between this location and Tunisia.

Aijin, Tunisia - Tunisia was one of the countries most used in the shooting of 'Star Wars,' especially for the first film 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.' In this Tunisian location you can imagine yourself on the fictional planet Tatooine.

Hardangerjøkulen, Norway - Some of the scenes from the battle of planet Hoth, which happened during episode five, were recorded at Norway's sixth largest glacier. The fictional planet Hoth is an ice planet, so this location certainly presented the production team with the ideal scenery!

Mount Etna, Italy - The most active volcano in Europe was not used in filming; however, this site was photographed and studied by the production team to recreate planet Mustafar. This site served as the background for the epic battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan in episode three. Even the lava flows from the volcano were filmed by the special effects team to be digitally placed on the fictitious planet.

Hotel Sidi Driss, Tunisia - Sidi Driss served for filming interior shots of the home of the family that raised Luke Skywalker. This Tunisian hotel was built hundreds of years ago and was restored in the 1990's. Inside you can find a 'Star Wars' themed restaurant to make you feel like you are truly on planet Tatooine.

Grindelwald, Switzerland - Grindelwald did not serve as a film location but was used by the production team, who took several photographs of the Swiss site. These images were then used to create backgrounds for the fictional planet of Alderaan, home of Princess Leia.

Guilin, China - Gulin also was not used for filming but for photography. The production team assembled several images of the site to digitally construct planet Kashyyyk, planet of the Wookiees.

Tikal, Guatemala - One of the oldest and largest Mayan cities was shot for the first film of the saga. Tikal represented the fourth moon of Yavin, Yavin 4, home of the military base of the Rebel Alliance.
