Things get around on the internet. You’ve got to be careful what you post, especially if you’re an employee of Ryanair. One employee of the airline learnt this the hard way, when they commented on a Facebook post. Derbyshire Live posted a story on Facebook about a passenger named David Bookbinder. The customer, a former leader of the Derbyshire County Council, complained when his wife, Wang Yi, was denied a seat on a Ryanair flight. As reported by Derbyshire Live, Yi did not have the necessary visa, which Bookbinder argued she didn’t need.

However, a Ryanair spokesperson shot down the claim. “It is each customer’s own responsibility to ensure they have the correct travel documents for their journey”, they told Derbyshire Live. The Facebook post polarised the comment section, where Ryanair employee Lauren Coupland stepped in.

“I bet his wife was hoping deep down that she wouldn’t get on the flight and he would carry on his journey without her. I mean waking up to that fat slob every morning!”, the comment read, according to The Sun. The paper connected Couplan to Ryanair, though she has since removed her job details from her profile.

A spokesperson for Ryanair said they did not address “unverified social media posts”.
