Netflix released a trailer for the new hip-hop biopic 'Roxanne Roxanne'
Follow this MC from the early 1980s
From the creators of 'Fruitvale Station' and 'Dope,' this Netflix Original will be set in the early 1980s, and the style looks to represent that era and sub-culture well.
A Sundance favorite, 'Roxanne Roxanne' details how Shanté joined the Juice Crew collective and made a name for herself with a freestyle rap retaliation to a derogatory UTFO single titled "Roxanne Roxanne," according to Mashable.
The film will star Mahershala Ali as Shanté, and feature Nia Long, Adam Horovitz from the Beastie Boys, and Chanté Adams. The soundtrack is co-produced by industry legends Pharrell Williams, Mimi Valdes, and Forest Whitaker. With a stacked cast and a soundtrack with epic promise, this film looks to be one of the best of the season.
'Roxanne Roxanne' will be available for streaming on March 23.
