Jeremy Clarkson will host a revamped edition of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. The show will return this spring for its 20th anniversary. He replaces Chris Tarrant, who stepped down from the show in 2014. As BBC News reports, Clarkson explained “I have always loved the show and am thrilled to be involved with its rebirth”. The presenter added that he’s looking forward to “making a few millionaires”.
ITV announced that there will be “a number of new twists and turns” in the rebooted version. Head of entertainment Siobhan Greene said “I hope ‘Millionaire’ will be introduced to a whole new generation”. She added that “with TV legend Jeremy Clarkson asking the questions, frankly anything could happen”. ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ first aired in 1998 and peaked with 19 million viewers per episode. Recently Clarkson has been busy hosting ‘The Grand Tour’, a ‘Top Gear’ replacement that airs on Amazon Video.
