Matt LeBlanc has explained why a ‘Friends’ reunion will never happen. The actor, who played Joey Tribbiani in the sitcom, shot down rumours in a new interview. “I don’t want to do it”, he said, as reported by NME. The actor explained that the original 1990s episodes were special. “It was about a finite period in a person’s life after college, before you settle down and start a family”, LeBlanc said. He added that “l I don’t know what the story would be now. They would all have moved on from that period so it wouldn’t be the same”.

If that wasn’t enough, the actor went on to explain why it wouldn’t work. “I don’t think anybody wants to see an old Joey having a colonoscopy”, LeBlanc said. “Fine when he was drinking coffee in Central Perk, or auditioning for a job. Not so much fun if he’s undergoing a medical procedure”. Apparently he has forgotten about the short-lived spin-off show 'Joey', which saw the character move to LA to pursue his acting career.

LeBlanc concluded by saying “normally I’d never say never, but in the case of Friends I would say definitely never”, NME reports.

You can catch Matt LeBlanc in ‘Top Gear’ on BBC Two.
